LUNAR LAVA TUBE EXPLORATION RENDER
November 2017- Vue
Because the lava tubes of the moon and mars are largely unexplored, I was asked to provide concept art of a rover that explores in a new way conducive to the rocky caves. The render was done in Vue and the bot was drawn in Photoshop.
ROVER ON MOON WITH SAMPLE RETURN
September 2018- Modo, Marvelous Designer, ZbrushCore
For this piece, I was asked to modify a low poly mesh for a new suit concept. I took the low poly version and brought it into Marvelous Designer. I then exported it into Zbrush where I sculpted the fine details like the pockets.
Foil Mars Base Camp
August 2018- Modo and Marvelous Designer
I was asked to remake an old render of Mars Base Camp. If you look on google you can see the original image. The foil was also redone. This was accomplished by using trigonometry and parachute patterns to find out how to wrap a pill shaped object in a fabric. I then translated that pattern to Marvelous designer where I made a fabric simulation to achieve the wrinkles. Then, I used Modo to change the material of the fabric to a metallic look. This I then baked using a normal map on a low poly object. For the rest of the render, I used meshes that Adam Burch and I modeled and set up a render similar to the original. The Mars in the background is also a 3D model.
ROVER ON MOON WITH SAMPLE RETURN
April 2018- Maya and Photoshop
Once again, I was asked to do concept art for a lunar mission. This one was to depict a more conventional lander with a sample return launcher in the background. I took a picture from the apollo 17 mission and interpolated the plane of the ground, from there I modeled a rover based on the Mars 2020 rover. Then, I finished by compositing in Photoshop, adding fine details like dirt in the tread and the tire marks in the dust.
